I am thrilled to be performing in Jocelyn Hagen and Penelope Freeh’s Test Pilot. This extraordinary dance opera presents the accomplishments of the Wright brothers through the lens of their sister, Katherine. Performed by a string quartet, a male quintet, soprano soloist, and four dancers, the multi-media event also includes stunning visual projections and sound technology to bring the ideas and emotions to life. It is always a pleasure to perform with the South Hadley Chorale under the direction of Jonathan Harvey. The program will feature Schubert’s Mass No.2 in G Major, John Corigliano’s Fern Hill, and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ In Windsor Forest. I look forward to working with the other fine soloists: Mary Brown Bonacci, mezzo-soprano; Spencer Hamlin, tenor; and Ryan Burns, baritone.

This short concert will feature two pieces that are near and dear to my heart: Richard Strauss’ Ophelia Lieder and Gregory Brown’s Caliban in After-Life. I have sung the Ophelia Lieder many times and each time it is deeper, richer, and more heartbreaking. Caliban in After-Life was written for me by my husband and the extraordinary poem is by a friend of mine, Todd Hearon. The piece is a mini-opera in itself: dramatic, lyrical, and explosive. I am excited to be able to perform this concert with pianist Judith Gordon and violinist Joel Pitchon.

In the second performance of our new series, Alice Jones and I will perform selections for voice and flute. The program covers a wide range of expression and features the music of John Corigliano, Ines Thiebaut, Albert Roussel, Eric Nathan, and Bun-Ching Lam. The performance will include projections of photography during the program which will add a new dimension to the music. As always at Gateway, wonderful brunch selections will be served! Come celebrate Valentine’s Day in style!

This concert of contemporary music explores the works of André Previn, Eric Nathan, Dan Welcher, Seymour Barab, and Gregory W. Brown. Each composer has responded to texts about nature in his own idiom, seeking ways to express the connection of the human experience to the natural world. With Alice Jones, flute and Mirna Lekić, piano. Free and open to the public.

We will present a program entitled “Eastern Currents,” which includes works by Bright Sheng, Frangis Ali-Zadeh, Ravi Shankar, Toru Takemitsu, and Ramin Heydarbeygi.
